About the Show

LAST CALL

is an amazing collaboration between Broadway director Michael Leeds , indie record producer & sound designer Phil Palazzolo, and myself, Terri Girvin actor & stand up comic. Set during one chaotic shift at a bustling NYC bar, I pour drinks for my needy and quirky customers while fending off phone calls from my about to be homeless mother. A typical day in a bartender’s life is full of snap judgments and snappy comebacks, but on this night I’m forced to choose between coming to my mother’s rescue or my own. Without any props, glasses or other people, my entire world is created flawlessly through physical movement and an intricate, highly integrated soundscape. LAST CALL is an incredible marriage between action, stand-up & sound, which makes a meticulously crafted and funny piece of theater. It’s about women and mothers and daughters. It’s about taking care of one’s self when taking care of yourself means letting go of the person you love the most.

Following an intense developmental workshop in the Spring of 2012, LAST CALL had it’s world premier production at Empire Stage in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. It ran for 4 weeks to rave reviews and extended due to demand. In October of 2012, LAST CALL moved to the Broward Center for the Performing Arts for a second run.

In 2015, LAST CALL made its NYC debut, presented by terraNOVA Collective and IRT Theater. With no marketing or advertising, LAST CALL was it’s presenting organization’s highest grossing solo show in their history.
